This is a concept I painted about a year ago.. did in about 3 days..

Wonderful concept. Very eerie. May I ask how you create the small flecks of ember that seem to have movement behind them? I imagine it isn't that difficult with a bit of a blur to them, but they are very real looking. Cheers, Great work.

It's actually a pretty easy concept to do.

Create a layer, use a bright yellow color and just draw the actual sparks with a hard brush. Tiny little hard edged sparks.

Once you're done, go to Outer Glow in the Layer Filters, and make sure it's an orange glow.

Once you have it to where it looks pretty good, duplicate the layer and set it to motion blur.

Move the motion blurred one so it's not right over the regular layer, maybe rotate it. then merge them together, set them to screen..and tada!
